Packing for any holiday is a challenge. When faced with what to bring with you, too often are tourists and travellers choosing the easy option and packing almost everything they own. Travelling, however, doesn’t allow for that.
With that being said, you may be stumped as to what you should be bringing with you. Here are just five necessary things to pack when travelling.
SENSIBLE CLOTHES
One of the most important things you need to ensure you’re bringing with you on your travels is a set of sensible clothing. Don’t go overboard – you don’t want to be lugging your entire wardrobe around behind you throughout the trip – but instead, limit yourself to a few outfits you can rely on.
Travelling is going to be tiring and challenging, and so you’ll want some forgiving, comfortable and reliable clothes to wear. They don’t have to be expensive – don’t bring any extravagant hiking boots, for example – but make sure they’ll last the duration of your holiday.
A PREPAID TRAVEL CARD
When it comes to money, travelling uses to require a good amount of budgeting. If you’re the kind of person who tends to overspend, it’s even more crucial – there’s nothing worse than finding yourself out of pocket prematurely. Make sure to shop around before you go to find the best exchange rate, as you’ll want to get the best bang for your buck.
When you do, load your converted money onto a prepaid travel card. These prepaid cards are perfect for restricting the amount you can spend, and they act just like a typical credit or debit card – meaning they’re very easy to use. As an added bonus, they won’t be affected by any future exchange rate fluctuations. So cool, right?!
YOUR CAMERA
You’ll long to get back out into the big wide world once you’re home from your travels, so make sure you have something to remember your past holiday by. Photos are undoubtedly the best way to look back on your travel experience, so be sure to have your camera at the ready.
You’re going to be discovering some awesome sights around the world, so make sure you’re snapping everywhere you go. From mountain ranges to busy cities, beautiful beaches to historical landmarks, you’ll likely see it all. Consider printing your snaps off to hang around your home in order to inspire your next trip.
MEDICATION
You might think you don’t need it, but medication is essential for anyone’s health when travelling. From common tablets such as paracetamol and travel sickness, all the way through to things such as sunscreen and plasters – your health is crucially important, so don’t let it falter when holidaying.
Consider conjuring up a little first aid kit for yourself, full of things you may potentially need – as previously mentioned, plasters are a good idea, but also think about things such as antiseptic wipes or cream to clean up any nasty injuries you may collect on your journey. It’s more common than you may think.
A WILLINGNESS TO DO IT ALL
Okay, so this isn’t exactly a tangible item you can pack – but it’s arguably the most important thing of all to bring with you on your travels. Too often do travellers hold back from opportunities to experience new and exciting things, often down to fear of the unknown. Don’t let it be you!
Travelling is all about challenging yourself and opening new doors, seeing what the world has to offer you. Should you be holding yourself back, you’ll be restricting yourself from reaping the benefits of your experience. Be sure to head out into the world equipped with a willingness to do it all.
