Which were your first jobs? Well… my first job ever was at the age of 16 at Wendy’s (up to date it’s still my fave junk food spot!). Fast forward to later on I worked at a Greek restaurant until I moved to Los Angeles from Chicago and worked in the entertainment industry, doing VIP bottle service at events like EDC and all the other Insomniac events in LA and Vegas. It was truly the second best job ever, seeing the best worldwide known DJ’s perform, sell thousands of dollars worth of champagne (some tabs exceeding 25K!) and making money while doing it!
What inspired you to start your blog/Instagram account? I felt like I was overwhelming everyone on Facebook with the amount of posts I was sharing and I knew something had to change. I then created an IG account where I shared a sneak peek of whatever it was I wanted to share which would then lead to my blog where there would be more images + experience + tips etc.
How did you get started in fashion and social media? I started working for a phone case company a few years ago doing their social media which quickly made me realize how the backend of it works. All that I learned there helped me figure out how to proceed on my own. It’s not just taking a photo and posting, there is analytics etc.
Did you have any professional help or you started on your own? I’ve never had help, only support from my husband and family. My husband pushed me to start a blog, he said: “just do it and see where it goes”.
Was it a job or a hobby? It was a hobby for two years.
Name some of your style icons and explain why they are your favorites? Sincerely Jules for fashion, Debi Flue for travel.
How would you describe your personal style? I’d say my style is “street style elevated” as almost every outfit I share can be easily elevated from sneakers to heels.
Describe your blog/Instagram style? I pay a lot of attention to the color scheme I use, and I tend to stick to 3 colors per photo posted that way nothing stands out too much when looking at blog/IG and doesn’t give an overwhelming feeling. I want IG feed to flow and the style to be not only feminine but also relatable with the added mix of inspiration for travels.
Is blogging/social media your profession or just a hobby? It’s a full-time job.
How do you organize your time? Every day is split up into different parts, including chatting with those who follow along and have any questions, unboxing new products, planning my feed and upcoming travels etc. Once emails are done, the remaining time of the day I spend looking for inspiration and editing photos.
How much time do you spend on your blog/social media? At least 5-7 hours a day.
Who takes your photos? Which gear do you use? I’ve been using the same photographer for years, he switches in between 2-3 different cameras depending on what time of the day we shoot. When I take photos, I use iPhone 7.
What do you find the most frustrating aspect of blogging? I think the biggest struggle is getting feedback from those who follow me. I think it takes a certain personality to just go ahead and chat with bloggers or someone you may be following, it’s something I wish more people would overcome and go ahead and ask questions, give feedback. For that reason, I do understand that this might also be might fault as I don’t do enough IG stories and show how relatable I actually am. IG + blog are pretty platforms to look at, but at the end of the day you need a personality behind that profile and that’s something I am working on.
What would you say that is the greatest satisfaction of being a fashion blogger/influencer? I think the ability of just packing your stuff and leaving for a last-minute trip is the best satisfaction. I am slowly switching to more travel on my platforms as I go on trips every month, whether it’s within the US or internationally. Within the past month and a half alone I’ve only been at home for just a bit over a week and traveled for the rest.
Tell me about your proudest achievement? My proudest achievement would have to be hearing from those who follow me how much they like the products or items I’ve shared that they’ve gotten too! I only work with brands I truly believe in and love, I’ve turned down many many brands that not only I wouldn’t like but would also look not organic.
How do you motivate yourself to keep the blog/Instagram up and running? Traveling is a big part of this, everyone is a fashion blogger nowadays and standing out is hard, because I love traveling so much I think that motivates me more and more to travel, create cool content and inspire others to get out more and see the world!
How do you manage time to run your blog/social media efficiently? By setting a routine – post, leave feedback on fellow Instagrammers, edit, schedule, email, follow-ups etc.
How active are you on a weekly basis? How often do you communicate with your followers? I communicate with them on daily bases. I try to reply to every DM + email within an hour.
How do you want to improve yourself in the next year? I want to switch to being more of a travel blogger where travel would take up 80% of my account, right now it’s at 50%.
Where would you like to be in blogging/social media five years from now? I would like to have something of my own and branded, I’m not quite sure what it is just yet I want to do.
Would you encourage other people to make their blog/Instagram account? Any advice? Yes, I would encourage everyone to start something on their own because they might be the most creative people ever and not know it until they begin the journey themselves! The best advice I could give is to be original, stick to your style and take amazing photos that you’d be inspired by if you saw it on someone else’s account!
Favorite brand/designer? I am super lowkey, of course, I love a good designer bag like GUCCI – but would I ever buy it, absolutely not. They’re pretty to look at but I don’t see a point in having a thousand dollar worth bag, I’d rather go somewhere I haven’t been. The platform that’s my fave would have to be REVOLVE as they literally have anything and everything you may need.
Most loved beauty product? ELEMIS! I did a collaboration with them over a year ago and ever since that project when I was introduced to the quality of their products I’ve been the most loyal consumer of theirs!
Favorite city you’ve been to? Too many to name! Every country has a city I absolutely love so this one would be too hard to choose.
