BLOGGING 101: BUILDING A FOLLOWING

To build a following and get exposure is what we all pursue, basically because without it you can’t be considered a potential blogger/influencer. You can create amazing content and write amazing articles, but if nobody sees or reads your stuff you won’t go anywhere.

Don’t get discouraged if you’re just starting and you don’t have many visits on your site because we have all been there. I remember how many time I spent creating content for NOBODY. I really didn’t consider giving up because I was doing it because I loved it, not to get recognized. But times have changed, and when I started nobody ever heard about full-time bloggers or even influencers, but now everybody knows about them.

Several people have asked me via Instagram many times, and here on the blog as well, how to build a following. How to organically grow and have true engagement with your followers. Well, that’s actually easy but slow. So you must have patience.

First things first, you should consider if you’re doing this for fame and money, or if it’s your passion. If it’s the first option I recommend you to leave, because you’re not going to get anywhere thinking this way.

Then, what makes you different from all the others? Realize that there are thousands and thousands of people in this world pursuing the same dream as you. So, what makes people decide to follow you rather than another one? You must stay true to yourself and share what you really love and drives you crazy, from your own vision and with your own voice.

The next is to engage with other people who do the same as you. If you’re a fashion blogger go and follow other fashion blogs, or if you’re a beauty blogger go and follow other beauty accounts, etc. At the end of this post, I’m going to share my favorite blogs and Instagram accounts.

Think that the blogger/Instagram community is called this way for a reason. You’re not going to get exposure by yourself, because that’s so hard. Go follow, comment and engage with other people. I assure you that this is the best thing you can do because you create external links to your site, you get to know other people who like the same as you, and their followers can easily find you as well. And then, take care of your followers answering to their comments, linking back to their pics and being nice. This is definitely the best tip I can give you.

Then, as I always repeat to those of you who ask me how to grow I would say: be original, have good quality content and be consistent. These three are so important as well because nobody wants to follow someone who copies the same content as others, with low-quality photos and articles, and that posts once this week, twice next month, and basically you don’t know when is going to post next.
