I’m not trying to start a book club, but it’s just that I’m not the kind of person who lives between books, so when I read something that I really like I like to let anyone know that I’ve enjoyed it and recommend it.
Today is time, not for a poetry book, but for the opposite of a self-help book. This book from Mark Manson has definitely destroyed all the theories about self-help books. The main idea of the book is that we’re never right, we’re all the time making mistakes, we should and must feel pain, because that’s what makes us grow, even though we don’t like it. Life is not full of greatness and positivity, and feeling optimistic the whole time is just a way to avoid the pain that makes us learn and grow.
It’s 212 pages long (acknowledgments included) and I’ve read it in three weeks, and I’m definitely not a huge fan of reading as I already told you. But, this book is really really hilarious and entertaining, because it has that ironic touch that makes me laugh so much. Also, Mark Manson, explains every chapter with pretty famous or quotidian stories so you can understand better what’s he’s talking about.
It’s definitely a book that I never thought I would be interested in, but it’s been definitely one of the best reads I have ever had, and I also learned a lot. In addition, there are many great quotes that I’ve highlighted with a marker while I was reading it.
