MILK & HONEY

If I have to be honest I’ll say that I’ve never been a huge fan of books and reading. When I was little I used to read some collections about adventures, but nothing else after I turned 12 and I couldn’t find any book that I liked because I bored them due to the horrible ones I “had to read” for school.

Anyway, some months ago I started to change my mind because I fell in love with poetry. That’s why I started to follow some Instagram pages with very nice poetry and I started liking it a lot. So, I started to look for a poetry book and I found one that was exactly what I was looking for.

I’m the kind of person who does a very deep research about a book before buying it, because I want to be 100% sure that I’ll love it. I look for pages through the internet, quotes from the book, reviews, etc. I only have to say that after buying it and reading it, the book became a very famous poetry book and a lot of people wanted it, so I wanted to write this review to recommend it to more and more people.

Milk & Honey is a poetry book from Rupi Kaur that is organized into four different chapters. I interpret it as the journey through love. The hurting, the loving, the breaking and the healing. You can tell from the very first poem that it’s a really good and deep book, especially if you’ve been through those situations, then you really feel like it’s really really really good.

What I’ve loved the most about it is the way that it is organized, because it is actually how it happens. While I was reading it I was thinking “oh, that’s completely true” and that’s what I love from a poetry book, feeling identified.

I don’t want to spoil the book, but I really recommend it to you, especially if you’ve been through though relationships, from the very first sight, through the deep love, the broken heart, and then the rising as a strong and independent person. It is very encouraging.

I’ve also seen that Rupi Kaur has another book called The Sun and Her Flowers and I would really appreciate any comment about it if any of you have read it!
