MICRONEEDLING TREATMENT AT HOME

You are curious about this blog post because: 1. You’re asking yourself how it’s possible to have a microneedling treatment at home. 2. You don’t even know what a microneedling treatment is.

Honestly, I didn’t know either what it was, but I had the chance to do an Instagram collaboration with Swiss Clinic and try their microneedling roller. I thought that was a good idea to write an honest blog post talking about how to do it, if it really works, and if it’s worth the money. I want to repeat that this is not a sponsored post in any way, just my honest opinion and how it has worked on my skin.

WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING:

This may sound scary, but it is a procedure where you use a roller with tiny titanium shallow needles to poke holes in your skin surface, and that stimulates your skin to produce collagen. This is highly used to fill fine lines, get rid of scars and plump the skin. It just rejuvenates your skin, which is always great.

HOW IT WORKS:

I got the roller and sanitizer from Swiss Clinic. You should spray the sanitizer on the tool before and after its use, to get rid of any bacteria it may have. Also, always take off all your makeup and wash your face.

Once everything is clean, you should roll the tool all over your face in four different directions. Avoid the area near your eyes and other sensitive areas. It is normal to feel a subtle tingle on your skin and some redness, but if it irritates your skin try not to push the tool into your face so hard, or just stop using the tool if it causes serious reactions.

After using this tool your skin is going to be much more sensitive to any product you apply to your face, so I advise you to wait an hour until you put any serum, oil or moisturizer. I recommend to do this procedure at night, so your skin can relax and recover overnight without harsh sunlight or pollution.

You should use it for 5-6 days in a row and then stop using it for a week.

MY EXPERIENCE:

I decided to get a chance to microneedling mainly because I have some acne scars, not severe ones but I want to see if this tool helps me get rid of these.

WEEK 1: I used it for 5 days in a row and I stopped because I got sunburned and I wanted my skin to rest and recover. I haven’t seen a huge change on my acne scars, but what I’ve noticed is that my skin doesn’t get that oily and acne is progressively disappearing (not the one that I already have, but preventing to have more).

WEEK 2: My skin has recovered from the sunburn and it’s balancing pretty well my oil levels (I don’t get that shiny oily skin that often). Also, I don’t have that many pimples appearing on my face (also due to natural facial products that I’m using and what I eat).

WEEK 3: I’ve been using the tool for 5 days in a row again. I don’t see a huge change in my skin, but it is definitely more plumped and glowing. It just looks healthier.

WEEK 4: My skin looks way better than before. It is true that I’ve been changing my skincare routine recently to natural products, which has helped my skin a lot. But, I have noticed that the skin roller has helped in some way too. As I said before, my skin looks more plumped and it has a glowy finish that I adore. In conclusion, my skin looks much healthier than before.

It is hard to see huge changes in your skin in a month. There are no magic products that can do that within a month. But, I can really see a little improvement. I haven’t got rid of my acne scars, but the most subtle ones. Again, my skin looks much healthier and plumped, and I’m so happy with that.

If you’re looking for a huge change in your skin I recommend you to keep using it every two weeks until you start seeing huge changes. It is not something that is going to happen overnight. But, if you’re only looking for younger and plumped skin, definitely go for it.
