COUNTDOWN FOR CHRISTMAS

There’s less than a week left until Christmas and I couldn’t be more excited. It’s such a lovely time of the year when everybody gets reunited and spend some quality time together and that’s always a good thing. Definitely, a great way to finish an amazing year.

Something that fascinates me is how differently people live the Christmas season depending on their culture, where they’re from, and their family traditions. It’s so interesting to talk about it with friends and people I know and learn about how they celebrate it. Traditions and habits might change, but the holiday spirit is always there, making sure everybody is together and full of joy.

My plans? I have a couple of workdays left and then I’m all free to start getting into full Christmas mode, and that’s really what I’m looking forward to. Present giving, hot chocolate, ice skating, watching films, getting cosy, spending time with my loved ones, and then Christmas Eve is here. Where I’m from, we’re used to kicking a log until it gives us presents (yes, you read that well), and then we have a lovely dinner at home (mainly seafood and nougat). Then Christmas Day is here, and it’s time for the family to get reunited and have the longest lunch of the year, which can go on for hours and hours but nobody really minds about it. After that, it’s time for myself to pack my things and spend some time abroad, looking for a peaceful and quiet place to stay until the next year. Also, I can’t forget about our sacred grapes tradition, which is basically eating 12 grapes, one every time the bell rings, until the New Year is here. After that, all we have left are the three kings, when all the family gets reunited again for a long lunch.

As you can see, I have a few Christmas traditions that I celebrate every single year and that I love. It’s so nice to have so much to do but also keeping it chill because all you want is to have a break from all the work and stress, and start the year like brand new.
