MY FAVOURITE SPRING/SUMMER TRENDS

I miss talking about fashion so much that I decided it was time to write about it now that many countries are allowing people to start going out (following the safety guidelines). Barcelona is still under lockdown, and all I have to say is that I can’t wait to finally go out other than for my daily walk, so I can properly dress up and have a good excuse to wear all the pieces I’ve got recently but didn’t have the chance to wear out yet.

I’m not going to focus on what I’ve seen on past runways since the current situation completely changed the whole thing, making us all wear lounge clothes all day long, but certain trends popped out throughout quarantine and conquered Instagram and other social media platforms.

PASTEL COLOURS

My number one trend obsession at the moment and the reason why I’m getting into wearing colours (because all I’ve been wearing for years have been neutral tones).

Lilac, bably blue, soft pinks, yellow and green shades have definitely conquered Instagram these past months, and I’m sure they’ll still be a trend until, at least, autumn arrives. I’ve seen head to toe monochrome looks, but also (if you don’t want to go that bold) on details such as bags, shoes, and hair accessories.

I think it’s the perfect way to spice up your outfits but without having to use crazy colours. And, I would even dare to say that mixing pastel colours has also become a trend that looks amazing and that I’ll probably give a try soon.

For the best outfit inspiration I would recommend you to check out @naaomiross and @__mmaxinewylde because they love mixing and playing with soft colours, always creating amazing looks.

BOTTEGA VENETA

The Bottega Veneta fever has been around for a while, and I have to admit I didn’t like it at the very beginning, but I’m obsessed with it at the moment.

I would say that the most iconic piece is their Pouch Bag (my favourite is the Chain Pouch version), which retails for 2 to 3k euros, which is kind of a lot, but I have to say that Mango has pretty good dupes.

Other than the iconic bag, I have to also highlight the shoes, the Lido and Stretch Sandals, which are also a huge trend, and that you can find pretty similar ones at Zara for a much more affordable price.

Some content creators who have been wearing these beautiful Bottega Veneta pieces are @de_rococo, @lydiamillen and @inthefrow.

SUITS (AND BERMUDAS…)

I adore to wear blazers, and even more when I wear the matching trousers. I’ve been loving the casual suit trend that I’ve been seeing lately on Instagram and, even more, when I see it mixed with the pastel colours trend I talked about earlier. I think a soft pink, baby blue or yellow suit looks super cute and especially styled it in a casual way (basic white t-shirt, maybe white trainers and jewellery).

What I’m not a huge fan of are the bermudas. Because it’s a spring/summer trend, I’ve been seeing these blazer + bermuda suits (as previously seen on Bottega Veneta, Max Mara, Givenchy and other designers’ runways) and I’m not really into that length on a trouser. I feel it’s not flattering since it makes you look shorter (yes, I’m a petite girl) and that’s something I try to avoid as much as I can. But, despite that, I’ve been seeing people rocking this trend and looking absolutely amazing.

BIG MAXI DRESSES

When I think about the perfect summer outfit all I can think about is a big white dress and simple strappy sandals, and I’m so happy that big maxi dresses have become such a trend lately, so brands have been creating many styles (in many different beautiful colours) to choose from.

I would say that H&M has a great variety of these dresses, but I would also recommend you to have a look at & Other Stories and Mango.

As I previously said, I would style these big dresses with simple strappy sandals for a cute dressy look, and with basic white trainers for a more casual one. For more inspiration, I would, again, recommend checking out @naaomiross because she always styles them really well.

So these are the top trends I’ve been seeing around the most famous social platforms at the moment, and the ones I’m loving the most, so I can’t wait to finally go out and get to give them a try!

Which one do you like the most? Any other trend I should consider wearing this season? Definitely tell me so in the comments down below and I’ll be glad to read!

  1. I am also so excited to be able to get out again! Getting dresses up is such a joy and I am really missing it.
My favourite two trends have to be the Suits and Bermuda short and the Big Maxi Dresses.
I do have one shorts suit from ASOS from last season but I really think its time for a new one.
I have been looking online for the big maxi but I am waiting until I can go shopping and try them on.
We are still in lockdown in the UK and can only go out for exercise, but hopefully soon!

Glad you like those trends too, and yes, I think I’ll never have enough suits… I’ll be definitely go shopping as soon as I can since I have a few pieces in mind I really want to get for summer!
Also, I hope the UK gets better soon because all I want is to get into a plane and spend all my summer holidays there!

  2. Hello from the UK. Barcelona is one of my favourite cities. I’ve only been once but feel in love. I have always loved pastels in the S/S and maxi dresses are so forgiving when you tuck into a big meal during alfresco. I also love this square shoe trend, so gorgeous : ), hope you are doing well and lockdown doesn’t last too much longer in Spain.

Aww glad you like my city! Yes, I agree that pastel colours are the best for the spring/summer season and that maxi dresses look cute and comfy!
We’ve actually moved to “phase 1” which means we are allowed to go out and have a drink or go to other people’s houses, but all I really want is to fly to the UK and spend my summer there.
