I don’t think makeup is a must in my everyday life, but I do like getting ready and glammed up when I have a night out, an event, or exciting plans. It’s like a way for me to know that I’m getting ready for a good time and that I’m able to enhance and express myself using a few makeup products.

If you’ve been following the blog for a while, you probably know that my main beauty focus is skincare, so it’s needless to say that a good skincare routine is a perfect base for a killer makeup look. Other than that, I also want to say I’m not a huge fan of heavy makeup looks and that I always try to keep it as simple as I can, as well as avoiding heavy foundations (I rarely wear any).

So, finally, I’m sharing my (what I would call) usual makeup look for special events, as well as many close-ups I’ve done here on the blog, so I’m pretty sure you’re pretty familiarised with the look so far.

My Simple Makeup Look

As previously mentioned, a good skincare routine is a must and the perfect base for good makeup. I have plenty of articles talking about how to create a skincare routine (here) as well as many others that might be of your interest.

Once I’ve done my usual routine and applied moisturiser (really important before starting your makeup) I have my face ready to start.

Again, I’m not a huge fan of foundations and any bases because they make me break out pretty easily and I just feel so uncomfortable with that on my face (then I would just skip this step and go straight to the next one). But, if I have to go somewhere more fancy or it’s a special occasion I might use the Essence Long-Lasting compact makeup (nº40) which is the only one that I think looks natural on my skin and doesn’t feel heavy.

I apply it with a wet beauty blender and I blend and blend until everything is looking nice and even. There’s nothing more terrible than a badly blended foundation. And, of course, don’t forget to extend it towards your neck to avoid weird lines and mismatched tones.

I have to admit this might be one of my favourite steps. I use the Benefit Hoola Bronzer and I contour cheeks, forehead and neck, creating a “3” shape. I really like how a well-contoured and bronzed face looks like so that’s why when I don’t use any foundation this step is more than enough to make my skin look amazing.

Then, for blush, I always use the Essence silky blush (nº100 Indian Summer). It’s the same one I’ve used for years and I love how beautiful but natural it looks on my skin.

My beloved brows. I must say I have a love-hate relationship with them since they are naturally well-shaped and they don’t require much attention, but then they also like to go crazy quite often, so I have to make sure they stay in place all day long.

To fill them in I used a brown eyeshadow from the same palette as I’m going to use for my eyes later, but lately, I’m loving the NYX Tame & Frame (nº3 brunette) and it stays all day long.

Nº5 – EYES

Into the cool step which is probably the main difference with my everyday makeup look. It’s time for eyeshadow. I absolutely love the Sleek Makeup “Oh So Special” palette (nº658). This is always my go-to colour when going out because of the beautiful shimmer but still keeping it quite neutral.

Then, another step which I love is mascara. I use the L’Oréal Volume Million Lashes (black) and it’s the best mascara I’ve ever used (and believe me I’ve tried many). The trick for me is to first brush them down to make sure you get the tips of your lashes, and then brush them up so you get the roots, and with this trick, your eyes will look much bigger.

Nº6 – LIPS

No big deal, since I have my absolute favourite lipstick which I always use. It is the Wet N Wild megalast lipstick (nºE902C bare it all) and every time I finish the one I have, I go and but the same one again, because it’s that good.

It took me ages to find the perfect lipstick shade for me and even better when the formula is so amazing. It’s a very pigmented lipstick and stays on for so long. Also, it’s a really affordable brand.

If I said we’re doing a glam makeup for special occasions and to go out, highlighter is very much needed. I swear by the Essence Eye & Face Palette (nº1 glow for it) since it doesn’t look too crazy or “fake” when it looks like literal glitter, and it’s the perfect shade and also stays on for so long.

I use it on my cheekbones, under the eyebrows, nose and the top of the lip. I think that some highlighter makes you look more alive and much more glamorous.

Some people like to use a setting spray but I haven’t found any that I like and, to be honest, I feel like my makeup always stays on pretty well, so I don’t feel like I need to use any.

Instead, I do love to use a face mist, like for example the Löwengrip face mist, and I just love how healthy and glowy my skin looks. My makeup looks much more natural and an extra layer of hydration for your skin is always welcome.

So these have been the steps to create my simple glam look. Also, I leave you with the IGTV video where I show how I do this very exact makeup. This wy is more dynamic and more self-explanatory.

Do you like this makeup look? Have you tried any of the mentioned products? Definitely tell me so in the comments down below and I’ll be glad to read!
